Salt Lake Olympic officials may feel like the entire world is out to get them but the general public seems to support the Olympics and the state of Utah more than ever Volunteer coordinators say Utahns are still turning out in droves to help stage the Games and the Utah Travel Council is taking record numbers of calls from outsiders interested in visiting Utah Rather than souring Utahns on the Games or souring the rest of the world on Utah the bribery allegations seem to have vaulted Salt Lake City and the state onto the international scene In one respect the Salt Lake Organizing g ofCommittee is under siege Two ficials in the organization resigned recently amid allegations that Utah boosters essentially bribed people in order to win the Games But for all the negative publicity the SLOC offices are still taking a steady flow of calls and applications from potential volunteers “Utahns seem to want to rally and the controversy has probably heightened awareness of the Games” said Shelley Thomas senior vice president for communications “Pre- -
