Show Big Scheme ou Low Grade Ores. It is rumored, says the Virginia Chronicle, Chron-icle, that a 100-starap mill will be erected next spring at a point almost due west from the mouth of the Sutro tunnel on the bank, of the Carson river. This ii VP be driven by aLaffell wheel propelled pro-pelled by the water coming from the tunnel, tun-nel, and will be used for working the vast body of low-grade quartz cut through in excavating the tunnel. This vein is said to be o00 feet in width and to give an average assay of $4 per ton. The water will befluuwd to the mill on a trestle ! and the trestle Svill be built wide enough i to allow oi the construction of tracks on ! either Ridi oji" which to run out the quartz from the tunnel to the mill. It is estimated esti-mated that by this method the low-grade quartz can be mined and crushed for $ a ton, which will leave a handsome dividend divi-dend for the projectors of the scheme, as they expect to mine and crush 300 tons every twenty-four hours. |
