The Utah Northern Railway, which is a narrow-gauge, is soon to undergo the process of widening. Workmen are at present putting in extra timbers in the bridges, with the view of changing to broad-gauge from Pocatello, at the crossing cross-ing of the Oregon Short Line, to Garrison, Garri-son, where it makes a junction with the Northern Pacific. The traffic over this road is heavy, and is increasing at such rate as to necessitate this improvement in order to facilitate the handling of freight. The gauge will also be widened on the Butte branch of the same road, and a third rail put down on the Anaconda Anacon-da branch. The Utah & Northern is virtually vir-tually a mining road, and shows what mines can do toward the development of a country. It is one of the best paving roads in the United States. Gold Watch Lost.
