Show garfield school district we wish to take this opportunity of publicly expressing through the columns of our county newspaper our appreciation for the efforts of all who in anyway contributed to make the composition contest a success seventy students from various schools of the district submitted compositions knowing how difficult it is to get young people to participate in such work we feel that the results of this un der taking are ve very ry gratifying and that they will have resulted in much good to ti the ic participants athas it has been felt for some years past that our schools were not putting over the teaching of english quite as effectively as they were some other lines of work during the present school year teachers were asked to give special attention to the teaching of this subject the papers sent in will enable us to quite well determine where we are ar at in this work the compositions are now in the he hands of the judges who are carefully reading and grading the papers it is hoped that we will be able to get returns from froin them in time to publish the results in this weeks issue of the the judges are Jane LeFevre chorlotte grow and leila paul who kindly consented to perform this arduous oils t task a k for us and to whom we feel much indebted for this difficult piece of service we ex extend our thanks and appreciation bothern to them thern for their support and timely help mr W J peters our worthy and ever helpful editor assures us that the four compositions that are declared medal winners will be published in the garfield county news possibly one each week until they are all given we commend lond the students who took part in this writing contest and our wish for them is that they will never fail to make a proper use of adv opportunity open to them to make progress and development only those who try succeed living is doing and daily achieving we regret that each of the contestants cannot be lae given a gold medal i F G SUPT |
