Show How about it It seems doubtful if any administration or congressional majority could enforce the stern measures necessary to halt inflation long enough for those measures to be effective What happens if a Senator or member of the House of Representatives goes home to run for reelection and his constituents find he voted for tight light money policies that meant higher interest rates and difficult difficult difficult dif dif- dif dif- days for the home buyer and builder Or what if he supported cuts in welfare programs to reduce federal spending and those cuts resulted in a loss of income for his unemployed constituents How many people would vote for the Congressman who because of his inflationary anti policies may have helped put them out of a job The family with high medical bills may find it hard to vote for the Representative or Senator who was instrumental in helping stop passage of a through- through going federal National Health Insurance system because he knew it would have ultimately bankrupted the taxpayer or broken the federal budget Yet unless there is voter support for formen formen formen men and women who will take such hard measures unlimited inflation is inevitable The ultimate end of such a spiral is of course the point where money ceases to function as money and be accepted in return for real goods or services Then it is time to start all over again Think about that when you go to the polls this November 5 There are always plenty of way out people and big spenders ready to give us everything for nothing and take all we have to pay for it Will we as voters follow that tha t end dead-end road |
