Show PETERSON EXPLAINS TAX INCREASE purchase of 0 coal and peaches peache cou con au an interesting meeting oi of the richfield farm bureau was held saturday night at the courthouse at which time the proposition of ordering five carloads of coal for the bureau I 1 members embers was considered and the committees reported tonnage enough to make up their order the committee reported the concessions given by the different local dealers but no agreement as to which dealer should have the order was made and it was left in the hands of the committee to place it to the best of their judgment the purchasing of a carload of peaches was also considered and quotations were read by the committee ranging around 2 per bushel in baskets at provo but there was not enough interest manifest to justify placing an order I 1 county commissioner george peterson was invited to explain to the body of farmers the reasons for the increased valuation on farm lands and livestock that has been placed by the state board of equalization mr peterson gave a detailed report as to ahat hat basis tho the state board of equalization had to make this increased valuation and also explained that the county had reduced the tax levy somewhat Nhat until flie the actual taxation to the individuals would be about the same this year as it was a year ago after the report the meeting was somewhat divided as to whether it should accept this increase and pay the taxes or whether to protest and compel tho the state to collect by force the meeting adjoin ned led with no unifying a action being taken in the matter |
