Kimball Ward won the $50.00 cash prize at the South Salt Lake outing held at Saratoga on August 9th. Over 500 stake members were present. The stake furnished ice cream deserts. Kimball won the award for having te most people In attendance. NEWS IN BRIEF: President William T. South of the South Salt Lake Stake just returned from a bou scout training Qqmp for Stake Presidents. ' 'Bishop Simpson of the presiding Bishopric Office and Carlos Smith YMMIA General Superintendent were In charge of the seventy one stake presidents. Pres. Chad Nelson of the Millcreek Stake also attended. The members of the Jr. Softball team were recognized and honored at Sacrament meeting by their coach Bob Jensen as he received the Zone 18 Championship and Sportsmanship trophies from Stake Athletic DirM-M- TVwuU SOUTH SALT LAKE STAKE Congratulations go to two young girls of Haven Ward who recently received diamonds. They are Sue Pulver and Mary Burrows. Sue is engaged to Rick Hall and Mary to John Robison. Are you getting your wesern On August 19th the Haven Ward Western Party will be held at Washington Grove In Parley's Canyon. (Where the cool mountain breezes blow.) Food will be served at 6:15 p.m. If you want to know what we are having you have to talk to food chairman Winona Fullmer. I will tell you this much - It's going to be good mountain food. Superintendent HenizSawatskl extends a special Invitation to attend our meetings to keep in touch with church and friends. The Ward Choir, led by Margaret Dietrich, Is also having an August vacation. Haven Ward married young which include mutal marrleds are sponsoring a fireside Sunday Augse ust 17 at 7:30 In the Multi-purpo- room. Mission slides from Australia and other lands will be shown. Jeffrey Fullmer, son of Billy and Winona Fullmer was confirmed at fast meeting. They live at 395 East Utopia Ave. Congratulations! Last Sunday the following people were sustained In the MIA. The girl's softball team will go Into region as a 2nd place team on August 7 and 28 . Good Luck girls! 26-6- Mystery ! ! Watch - - In September. for Chicken?! to Bishop Beck and the ward. It is unusual for a team to be awarded both the Championship and the Sportsmanship trophies. Brother Turner also presented the team with three new softballs from the stake. We are really proud of these boys who won all four games in the Zone 18 tournament and they will enter the All Church Tournament Monday August 18th.
