YOUR TOWN, YOUR NEIGHBORS, YOUR NEWSPAPER Eureka, Utah - Friday, June 25, 2004 Eureka Fire Dept. hosts annual July 4th activities Eureka City Fire Department will host the annual 4th of July activities on Saturday, July 3, behind the Elementary School and Tintic School District Office. The fire truck will begin picking up kids at 9 a.m. to ride the fire truck and then the races will begin at the school at 10 a.m. In conjunction with 4th of July, Ned S. Allinson, fire chief, has released the following safety tips for fireworks so that we can enjoy a fun and safe 4th of July. Always read and follow label directions. Buy from reliable sellers. Use outdoors only. Always have water handy (garden hose and bucket). Never experiment or make your own firework. Light only one firework at a time. Never a "dud" firework. (Wait 15 to 20 minbucket of water.) in then soak a utes, Store fireworks in a dry cool place. Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in your garbage can. Never carry fireworks in your pocket Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers. The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of hte body over the firework. Stay away from illegal fireworks. Illegal fireworks are, anything that sends sparks more than 15 feet in the air, leaves the ground, or explodes. Poppers and ground spinners are legal and most fireworks that you can buy at the firework stands are legal. Have a fun and safe 4th of July. re-lig- ht The Eureka Fire Department will have an engine at the ballfield at dusk. They ask that anyone wishing to set the fireworks will please do so at the ballfield. The fire danger is currently high and fuels are volatile. One spark can start a fire. Nancy Underwood, present editor, has decided to dedicate her time to her new teaching position at Goshen Elementary and her family. She will do the last reporter on July 27th. So, we are looking for a new editor! Those applying must have a computer with a word processing program. A digital camera, word processing experience, and Internetemail knowledge would be helpful. Please type one page about why you want the reporter and what experience you have. Put it in the reporter box on main street by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 2.
