Show LOCALS WIN TILT WITIIMINERSVILLE The Milford baseball team, displaying display-ing much better form than in the Fortv-.Niner day game with Beaver the first game of the season defeated de-feated Minersville, 18-14, in a good j practice game played Sunday after-i after-i noon at the local park. As the score would indicat-, the pitchers for the respective teams were hit hard but not more so than in the opening games of some other seasons, the I scores for which have often bad more t! e resemblance of basketball scores than those of the great American game. Allen "Dolly" Carter got his usual home run this time in the fifth inning-. This makes five straight games in wheh he has garnered at least one home run. Incidentally, the Milford boys cut their errors down to three for this game, which is a decided improvement im-provement over the opening game with Beaver. As usual, when the Minersville boys are opponents, the game was a good-natured contest throughout, with Minersville, good j sports that they are, taking their defeat de-feat in good grace but vowing dire defeat for Milford in the return game; to be played at Minersville June 28. ' A good crowd witnessed the game; and it looked much more like old times in Milford, indicating r.n increased in-creased interest in and mor; general-support general-support of" the team which is appreciated appre-ciated by the members of the team, and those who are working hard ti put over this activity. The Milford team is giving the newly organized Cedar team a p'rac1 tise game at Cedar City Sunday and ' will play Beaver at the county capi-'al capi-'al on Memorial day.
