According to National Education Association estimates, the average salary oi classroom teachers in Utah this year is slightly higher than the averages for the Mountain States and the Nation. This fact was reported by Utah Foundation, the private nonprofit governmental research organization. The average teacher salary in Utah for the 1957-5school year was estimated at $4,650. This compares with a Mountain States average of $4,476 and a U. S. average of $4,520. Utah Foundation anaylists point out that the Utah sion recommended in 1953 that Public School Survey Commis-teache- r salaries in this state should be at least equal to the averageof the Rocky Mountain States based upon comparable professional qualifications. The report concludes that these estimates indicate that teacher salaries in Utah are in line with recommendations of - this Com8 Last year Kane County contributed $802.36 to the polio fund. Expenses amounted to $29.60 which was the cost of coin collectors and campaign material. This year with an increased population the quota is set at much more than that.
