Show saddle pals enjoy trail ride io to coal canyon green river s junior riding club known as the saddle pals enjoyed a day long trail ride on we wednes adnes day july 20 the group which was led by john fulsom mrs lorin milton and ila mae tidwell went to coal canyon in the book cliffs north of town the young members who went on the trip were ruth ann thomp son dee ann mckay karma hal lerson nerson laddie laddle king alan hatch carl hatch and eugene alien allen they met with lunches packed and mounts saddled at 8 00 a m ready to leave town for a day of fun am they returned about 7 30 that even ing while in coal canyon they held their monthly meeting at which new officers are given charge on a rotation basis this month ruth ann thompson was moved into the president s saddle while gene baker is the new vice president and jaque mckay became the secretary the treasurer treasurers s office is also attained in a novel manner the names of all the members are put into a hat and a nd the name t that hat is drawn out becomes the treas aurer this time tune that honor fell to alan hatch the club has about 18 members from 9 to 16 years of age they practice riding drilling and horse back games each week on wednes day at 6 00 p m in the rodeo arena back of the old school house at present the youngsters are work ing hard to be ready for the an nual green river melon day held in september |
