Winds peaked at C7 mph at Us Vegas. Nev.. and at 54 mph at Guadalupe Pass. Texas. Winds Tuesday night hit 100 mph in Utah, blown g over a truck on Interstate 89 and critically injuring the driver. The winds sent waves crashing over a causeway on the Great Salt Lake, undercutting it and stranding two Union Pacific trains. Chief dispatcher Jim Cox said workers planned to plug gaps up to 100 feet long with dirt and get the tracks back in service today. Forecasters warned more than 2 feet of snow was possible. Runoff from record snows swelled Utah's Great Salt Lake to its highest levels in a century and heavy rain across parts of the Dakotas increased the threat of flooding. Rain and fog shrouded New England. Winter storm warnings were posted over southern Montana, eastern Wyoming, the Hark Hills of South Dakota and the Colorado mountains. Forecasters described the storm as major and said more than 2 feet 798-93- Commissioners reviewed the county ordinance covering large gatherings and found it applies to gatherings of more than 250 people that extend over a 12 hour period. For such gatherings, a $1,000 bond is required, and a license fee is charged. Gerber said the race will run for two days, but will not last 12 hours either day. The ordinance exempts church groups, government agencies, etc. Sheriff Mack Holley confirmed that the ordinance was adopted several years ago in order to control rock concerts.
