On the third week in March an announcement concerning track try-ouwas issued from the athletic department The first warm day during that week saw some ten or twelve track hopefuls down on the football field starting to limber up. However, with the ts (lets hope short) cold wave that spread over the area during the last few days of that week and on into the following week, there has been little opportunity for those that were interested in participating on the team to really begin their training and exercising. Until warmer weather reaches this area again, the real abilities of all the track members will not be able to be tested, therefore a more comprehensive report cannot be covered by this paper until a later date. At first glance however, prospects in the discus, polevault, and javelin look good, with other improvement in the 100 yard, 220 yard, 440 yard dash, distance running, shot put, high jump and broad jump expected to be made as the season has an opportunity to progress. To date, track meets in which Westminsters team may participate have been scheduled for April 14th, in Dillon, Mont., and for April 29th in Cedar City, Utah. With the capable supervision 01 the athletic department, an increase in Westminsters track equipment, and a seemingly better over-al- l outlook of student participation ant ability, the beginning of Westmin sters 1961 track and field prospects look very encouraging and coulc very well blossom into an impressive season. Well, it depends on how it is looked at The Parson in their first bid for national honors drew the first place team for their first game and on top of having one of the roughest team in the tournament the fans astonished the ball club. The Parsons, being used to playing before a 50 fan capacity came out onto the floor and 58,000 fans were looking at them and stage fright got ' , , .- - dIntramural Basketball Ends Parsons in their second bid drew Winston - Salem of North Carolina rated 4 in the tournament It may sound like the Parsons need an excuse for losing, but this is not the case. The Parsons only want their fans to know the conditions and caliber of the Kansas City tournament of District Champions. The Parsons have only one comment to make Wait till next year!
