For at least the second time in three region outings Woods Cross opponent has not been up to par on offense, and it just may be that the Wildcats are deceptively good on defense. I hope its our defense, coach Clyde Jackson said. We work hard to take away the other teams strengths. One Viking strength was largely taken away before the open- ing however, as Viewmont s Bret Cloward was not at full strength because of a back injury he received during last weeks contest with East. , We were very fortunate It was obvious Cloward was not at full strength. Its too bad for them he was hurt, but it was good for us, Jackson said. Even if Cloward had been at full strength, Viewmont would have had its hands full challenging; the Wildcats tough team play, which has taken the place of preseason inexperience. ; I think the kids are finally getting the hang of what were trying to teach them. They are starting to have confidence in themselves and are getting to know, their roles on the team, assistant coach Gary Malmrose said. ; Assistant coach Rick Palmer quickly added, Weve also stopped trying to get them to do things they arent capable of. One thing the Wildcats were capable of doing Friday is taking control of the game from start to Jackson, I think he was a key in getting the ball inside to Kevin, and he was a big factor on the boards. ; He just has good instincts for the ball, and plays smart, Jack-so- n ; said. We think we still have a good shot at winning the region. "AX .- 30-1- - Wife -I ; 5-- .. " ?y. ; .
