You Are Welcome s UTAHN TALKS TO MONTANA MINERS f Special to Utah Labor News The BEAItCREEK, Mont. small mining community of Bear-cree- k again came to the front with its annual Labor Day celebration to fittingly observe another milestone of progress, marked with rapid forward strides which have accrued to the benefit of the workers of America. The celebration was headed by Chairman Jules lesinque, Secretary Alex Cameron, Treasurer Clarence Wadsworth and other committees for this great occasion. Prominent Speakers Chairman Besinque introduced Joe Bosone, the first speaker. Mr. Bosone was for many years president of District 27, U. M. W. of A., and at present is connected with the National Bituminous Coal Commission in Montana. Mr. Bosone began by stating that Labor Day belongs to labor, and labor It is our day, the speaker only. Bosone launched a severe attack on a member of the United Mine Workers of America., William Green, for Industrial Organization. He stated, I know Green. I learned in the past to almost love him, but his personal activities with the open shoppers, the United States chamber of commerce, and other enemies of labor, have made me feel ashamed that he is yet calling himself a representative of He continued, labor. I should like to speak about the two philosophies, one represented by John L. Lewis, and the other by William Green, but our friend from Wyoming, vice president of District 22, Albert Roberts, will take care of that. Air. Bosone described the activi- ties of the C. 1. 0. in Montana and urged labor to stand by John L. Lewis in his great fight for industrial democracy. Speaking with fiery intensity from the first word to the last, Mr. Bosones speech was well received by his hearers. Roberts Makes a Hit Vice President Albert Roberts, of District 22, U. M. W. of A., was the next speaker introduced by Chairman Besinque. Air. Roberts, in a masterly fashion, described and pictured the advancement labor has. made. The speaker stated, I am here today, not as a speaker, but as a member and officer of the greatest organization on the face of the globe the United Aline Workers of America. I am here representing the greatest leader in the labor movement of America, if not the world John L. Lewis. The United Aline Workers of America has done more for the workers of America than all the A. F. of L. craft organizations put together. He continued, Today the chamber of commerce, the manufacturing association, all the open shoppers of America,, the great financial interests, and last, but not least, former international secretary, William Green, are denouncing John L. Lewis and the C. I. O. as communistic, just as they denounced the greatest president we ever had, Franklin D. Roosevelt, our beloved president and friend, communistic. Same Old Tactics The speaker continued, Dont let them fool you. They have preached that gospel against one and all those who have fought the great battle of labor. Anyone who fights the labor battle is accused of communism or some other ism as the circumstances arise. Dealing with the C. I. 0. activities in the states of Wyoming and Utah, he said, the activities of those opposing the C. I. 0. are the same tactics that Traitor Billy Green used elsewhere. Air. Roberts spoke at length on the economic conditions of the miners and workers in Utah, anc went on to say, The coal miners of the state of Utah did not get organized by lying asleep, but by constant vigilance and fighting against the coal corporation of that state.
