Show Farrell s Farm A Smitlifield enthusiast over the Farrell dry farm at Peterboro has put that enthusiasm into words for publication and it gives thcRepuhlican pleasure to present the article whicli follows: "A sight! worth going miles to see. The DRY FARMof ex-bishop Geo. L. Farrell 's, which lies just across the valley, consisting of about 1700 acres. Hero is a sight thai, once seen will never be forgotten. for-gotten. The farm is on a gentle slope and from the house one can sec every man on the farm at work. The ripening of the grains and the fields of luccrn present a picture that no pen can fully describe, de-scribe, and all this without a drop of water, only natural rain fall, whicli we all know is limited in this arid country. Ex-bishop Farrell certainly deserves de-serves much credit for his pertinacity, per-tinacity, for it is his untiring energy that has made his farm what it is. At first he had many slumps but he. never knew the meaning of the word failure. He was scoffed at for trying to raise grain, etc., without water, every one believing it to be an utter-impossibility, utter-impossibility, but he proved his theory and gained his point and has for many years reaped 'the benefits or his early and seemingly seeming-ly fruitless experiements.. Mr. Farrell has just written a book on "successful dry farming", which is now in the hands of the printer. This work ought to be in the hands of every landowner in America. "Wo have not told the tenth of this grand view or of the gentlemen who helped, with tho aid of nature, to make it, but we would suggest that every one who can sparo tho time pay it a visit. We are sure it will never bo re-grci'tcd., re-grci'tcd., Tho farm is under itlic management manage-ment of Geo. Farrell, Jr., who with his able assistants, Mr, and Mrs. Seal, will gladly welcome all and show them a time. Lovers of fancy stock will also bo more than pleased, for here can be seen tho pride of Kentucky, nnd beauties beau-ties they are. Again wo say, any onn wanting nn enjoynble outing, coupled with worlds of interest, see this farm. |
