DEATH OF A PIONEER Mary Ellen Kimball Wife of Late Heber C Kimball Passes Away Mrs Mary Ellen Kimball wife of the tha late Heber C Kimball who was one of Brigham Bri ham Youngs counselors counselor at the time the Mormons these valleys valles died at her home 49 South Fourth East street late last night nl ht of or old age and general debility The death of ot Mrs Kimball marks the passing of ot one of at atthe the oldest pioneers who have seen n nore ore than halt half a century of growth and de tIe development in ir these valleyS A career filled with incidents and happenings s such as but few tew have had and yet live JIve to recall was hers Under the weight of or years and the ravages of time Mrs Kimball broke down In health some time ago and of late has been an invalid Recently she had been confined con ned to her bed all the time and the waning spark of or life flickered quietly oUt o t last night Mrs Kimball was WIlS born in Montgomery ry county New York YOI years ears ago and became identified with the Mormon people when a comparatively young woman She moved to Nauvoo when the Mormons settled and built their temple there and remained there until the Mormons were forced to leave the state It was while at Nauvoo that t at she married President Kimball then thenan thenan thenan an apostle with several other wives three of ot whom are still sun living in this city When the Mormons set out on their long journey journe across the plains In search of a place where they could live and practice their religion away from the molestation of all the world Mrs Mr Kim Kimball Kimball Kimball ball followed her husband and arrived In Salt S Lake the same year the first settlers reached here but a few fe weeks week later She made the trip across the plains in an ox cart and underwent all the hardships and sufferings attendant upon that long journey After settling here she had her full tUll share of the bur hut burdens burdens dens that always mark the opening up and settling of a virgin country COUltry Of late years she has resided at her home on Fourth East No arrange arrangements arrangements arrangements ments have yet been made for tar the fu tu funeral leral
