Show Obituaries MARCH 14, 2008 Sandra Woolstenhulme Poulsen Returned home to her Father in Heaven March 7, 2008, in Montpelier, ID. Born Nov. 29, 1941, in Oakley, to Morris L. Survived by her husband; three sons, Troy and Sue Poulsen, Challis, ID; Danny Poulsen and Corey, Globe, AZ; Darby and Courtnie Poulsen, Green River, WY. Sisters: Jocyle Darcey, Wanship; Lindya Twiss, Montpelier, ID. Brothers: Phil Woolstenhulme, Daryl Woolstenhulme, Bart Woolstenhulme, Montpelier, ID. Seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; two sons, Brett Poulsen and Dirk Poulsen. She grew up in Oakley and attended schools in Kamas. She was rodeo queen for the Oakley rodeo. Sandra loved all animals, especially her little dog, Sandy. Funeral services were held March 12 in Montpelier, ID. Brigg Cerel Gines Brigg Cerel Gines, infant son of Dallas Carol Bice and Luke S. Gines, returned to his Heavenly Father March 1, 2008. He will be missed by his parents, sisters, Jessa, Kinley and Devree. His grandparents, Randy and Lori Bice and Tim and Lori Gines. Great-grandparents, Doug and Betty Gines, Val Hardy, Edison and Erika Stephens and Jack Bice. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, March 5, at 11 a.m., in the Stevens Cemetery in Oakley. Subscribe To The News! 336-5501 Doris Moon Atkinson FRANCIS: Doris Moon Atkinson, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her home of causes incident to age. Born Sept. 4, 1914, in Woodland, to Hyrum Moon Jr. and Kathrine Melissa Jones. Married Glen Wilby Atkinson on Dec. 26, 1935, in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1953. Doris remained a widow for these past 55 years being true to her beloved husband. Together they had three children: Dallas M. (Floydene) of Marion, Austin G. (Brenda), and Kathy both of Francis, they were the light of her life, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris spent most of her life living in Francis and the Kamas Valley, a place she has always held close to her heart. She believed it was the most beautiful and safest place in the world. She never ventured far away from home, believing she already possessed everything she wanted or needed. Doris worked for the South Summit School District as a part-time custodian at the elementary school. As a member of the LDS Church, Doris loved her Heavenly Father, placing all of her faith in Him. She was a member of the Francis Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, having a great love and respect for her ancestry. Doris was also an avid sports fan all of her life, especially for “her Utah Jazz”. She was of the greatest generation. She loved her family greatly, both those who went before her and those who remain behind. She was our Matriarch and will be greatly missed. We Love You! Survived by her three children; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend all of her life, Norma; brother, Rulon; and sister-in-law, Evva Atkinson. She is preceded in death by her husband Glen; her Momma and Pappa; brother, Warren; sister, Beth; brothers-in-law: Theron, Deil, Ivan, Loraine, Alfred; sisters-inlaw: Elaine, Edna, Betty, and Rosemary. The family would like to give a special thank you to Access Hospice: George, Victoria and staff. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, in the Francis LDS Church, 385 East 2200 South, Francis. Call 336-5501 Kenneth Ray Richins Kenneth Ray Richins left mortality March 11, 2008, due to heart failure. Born Sept. 25, 1935, in Ogden, to Esther Margaret Morby and Kenneth Willard Richins. After his mother’s death in 1939, his father raised him in the small town of Echo, with the help of his sister Ethel Richins and other family members. Growing up in north Summit County, an area rich in Pioneer History, gave Ray a deep and abiding love for Church History. He had a passion for showing people the pioneer trail that runs through Echo as well the important sites of the Utah War. The students, family members and friends who visited the area with him found him to be a fantastic tour guide. His early schooling and church experiences were in Echo, Henefer, and Coalville. He was student body president of North Summit High School and active in sports and other school and church activities. Always friendly and outgoing, he loved people and reached out in friendship wherever he went. He even enjoyed his hospital stays because he met so many people with varying backgrounds. Ray loved studying and teaching the gospel, a quest that began in earnest on his mission to Eastern Canada in 1955. After his mission he attended BYU and Weber State College where he earned to B.S. Degrees. On Sept. 2, 1966, he married Mina Lou Broadhead in the Salt Lake Temple. They began their married life together in the Big Horn Basin in Wyoming where he taught math, chemistry, and early morning seminary. He was asked to teach seminary full-time in Lovell, Wyoming and was in the seminary program for ten years in Lovell and Clearfield, Utah. He completed and M.S. degree at BYU and the course work for a Ph.D. He also taught “Teachings of the Living Prophets” classes at BYU from which he gained appreciated and insights that were extremely valuable to him throughout his life. He loved photocopying talks and articles to share with others. He also started some family businesses and worked at Geneva Steel. In addition to reading and studying, which were his greatest passions, he enjoyed the outdoors. Having grown up riding horses, he later purchased some acreage and horses and delighted in talking them up on the Alpine Loop and inviting friends to go along. Ray is survived by his wife, Mina, and his four children, Kenneth William, Los Angeles; Esther (Morgan) Reid, Provo; Cheryl (Ben) Bikman, of North Carolina, Rachelle (Brandon) Chesnut, Orem, and one brother Roy C. (Fran) Richins, Thermopolis, WY. He delighted in his four small grandchildren, James, Sariah, Kaylie, and Samara. We express our heartfelt thanks to all who have helped in his care and to family and friends, who have called and visited with him these last few months. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the Timpanogos Park 5th Ward Chapel at 990 North 100 West, Orem. Viewings will be held at prior to the services beginning at 11:30 a.m., and on Friday evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the same location. |
