Show Roy Council Approve Post Office Option Roy, Utah Thursday, March 5, 1959 Vol. 5 No. 41 Council members voted to follow up on the option given to the Federal Government last week for the erection of a new post office. The new building would be erected on 5700 South. This is property Roy City acquired through the purchase from the government of Arsenal Villa and was oned for com mercial use. Riverdale Commission Accept Road Plan A REQUEST FOR additional time on the option for the post office was rejected by the city council. The department had asked for 150 days instead of 90. However, Robert Greenberg, real estate operations officer for the post office stated that they would know within 60 days if they would build. Therefore the council stated that if addition time was needed to prepare plans, award contracts, etc. an addition extension of time would be granted. By HELEN NORTON ROYJ1EWS A master road plan for the city was of Riverdale unanimously adopted by the Riverdale Planning Commission at their regular monthly meeting last Wednesday night. THE MAP had been prepared by the Weber County Planning Commission office after extensive study taking into consideration the terrain and also the intended future development of the various areas withn the city. Included in the local commissions approval was their endorsement of the county planners recommendation that the proposed East-WeInterstate Highway coming out of Weber Canyon could best be located along the high back line of Riverdales south east boundary. AS DEVELOPMENT progresses some existing roads will be widened, according to the plan, and a network of lesser roads added to serve the housing neighborhoods as they come into existence. Changes may be made in the plan as necessities may arise. Post Office Will Meet New Growth o: pc.sl office in Roy is the for in forward planning leap growth of the community. The present growth of the shrdluetaoin sent pest office nine years ago looked like it would be the answer for sometime to come. But it soon proved to be crucially inadequate as far as space, convenience and parking facilities are concerned.
