A. Mettenet noted that it was rare for two brothers to have a combined 70 years service with one company. He said Wallace Lovendahl, the older by four years, plans to retire in April. The Lovendahl brothers were working " during World War II at the West Jordan sugar plant where the job outlook wasn't encouraging. The season was about over, recalls Wes Lovendahl, and they were about talking in northern relocating Utah. So they jumped at the chance when a friend told them there were jobs at the Hercules Bacchus Works near Magna. The report shows that Jordan schools have 3,789 more students than they did at the beginning of the 1977-7- 8 school year. Alpine School which District, showed an increase of 1,319 students over last year, had the second-higheincrease in the state. The student 3,789 increase represents more than 50 percent of the total student increase in the entire which state, amounted to 7,160. Granite School District, Utah's largest district, and Salt Lake School District posted decreases in student enrollment of 820 and 940 students respectively. Ogden also lost students compared with last year's enrollment figures, as did and Beaver, Morgan, North Summit.
