The parade route will start at Kearns High School and travel east down 5400 South to 4000 West Parade features include marching bands from area high schools, floats from throughout the valley and many other entries. Later in the day residents are invited to bring in their favorite chili recipe to the first chili cookoff. Chili must be homemade and will be judged, and awarded prizes, by members of the town council and other people in the community. That evening at 7 p.m. a Western Hoedown themed dance will be held in the Kearns High School parking lot People who attend are invited to wear their western attire and come prepared to kick up their heels. There is no charge for the dance, but donations will be accepted. Kearns Hometown Days has become a great tradition and it just seems to get better each year.
