On November 2, 2009, Kern River Gas Transmission Company filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requesting authorization to construct gnd operate new natural gas pipeline facilities in Wyoming, Utah and Nevada. This project, called the Apex Expansion Project, is subject to the jurisdiction of the FERC under the Natural Gas Act On November 16, 2009, the FERC issued a formal notice of Kern River's application. The FERC assigned the docket number CP10-14 to this application. Kern River has mailed the NOA and an information packet about the project to affected landowners and government entities.. The proposed project is designed to increase capacity of the existing Kern River mainline by transporting an additional 266 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
