Show TO SETTLE in view of the fact that mining is becoming more and more hazardous 33 a business on account of conflicts and claim jumping it behooves those who are interested in tho business to around them for a remedy and the remedy must be forthcoming crp long or the prospector and capitalist will be alike unable to cope with the difficulty of establishing a clear title to their claims in this and adjoining districts very little attention is paid to the laws regulating the making of locations and as a result conflicting claims are the rulland not the exception A valuable piece of property sometimes has three or four deacie owners to any one who is a resident of our district the evils resulting from these defective laws are apparent in this district there are now not a few splendid prospects with large and small deposits in sight but the owners are afraid to let them take their proper positions as producers fearing that their title to the properties will be disputed the instant they let it be known they hive ore this is no idle talk for wo have in person visited properties in this district that made a splendid showing with the ore in sight and that would pay handsome dividends to the owners when asked why they do not ship ore or let what their properties are the answer is almost invariably we have no money to spend and it costs so much to procure a patent for our claim that we cannot afford to pay for it the remedy we would suggest for this difficulty is not new by any means but we think it would fill the bill as it has been in use in great britain for years and has given satisfaction to all parties and by its use mining conflicts have become almost things of the past let congress at its coming session pass a bill giving to each mining district a commissioner or let the recorders bo the commissioners whose duty it shall be when a location is made to go with the locator look over the the ground see that the stakes conflict with no pic locati onor if they do give him the biwer to remove them and place them outside of the lines of said previous location make a record of the date of entry and also a map of the ground aa it is taken up which shall be placed on record with the other paper then if there be any conflicts as to the title on account of the dip of the vein being in dispute let each claimant appoint an arbitrator who shall go before the commissioner commisa ioner and settle the case among themselves the commissioner court in the case will generally end the trouble as there are few ifan conflicts that cannot ba settled in this way it wil be a rough i deal on the lawyers but those who are the will then get their jut dues there can bo no doubt that such a mode of proceed ure as suggested will give satisfaction to all parties and mm ing camps can then come out on their merits without the extra expense connected with law suits |
