Freshmen enter year Centennial celebration Olona Tillman Sales Represent a tiue The freshmen entering Weber State College this fall are a very special group of college students. Not only will they have the excitement of starting college but they are entering Weber during the centennial year. It was 100 years ago that Weber began. The freshmen will be experiencing their own beginning also. The centennial year is a very exciting, memorable year for Weber. The 1988 commencement ceremonies marked the official start of all centennnial festivities. Neil Armstrong, former astronaut, was guest speaker and sky divers added an extra flair to the day. Scheduled upcoming events include the Utah Musical Theatre performing throughout the summer, the Moscow Classical Ballet in October, and the Boston Pops in July. Numerous concerts and theatre productions will be-presented throughout. the-: year and spec iall guest speakers will appear at open :h'our and convocations. - V There are fun activities planned to include the Flaming W hike, pep rallies,' purple and" white day, dances, parties, and a very special homecoming. This promises to be a very special homecoming this year. Freshmen are encouraged to get involved in the activities. They can help build a float, organize a dance ,or help on the student hike. Help would be welcomed from all organizations involved in the projects. Freshmen should contact the 1 889 1989- HlOO YEARS WEBER STATE COLLEGE CENTENNIAL; Associated Students of Weber - State College office in the.-Union Building as soon as possible to see what they can do to becope involved. Howard Noel, director of publicity for the centennial, has been busy planning activities for the past year. He states, "Therefare a lot of fun .activites planned this year but the college" continues, to emphasize - their academic, side..
