Health notes While the Pap test has gone a long way toward reducing cervical ' cancer deaths, this year alone approximately ap-proximately 12,200 women will be diagnosed with the disease and 4,100 will die from it. New technology, however, offers hope for finally eradicating this deadly disease. Studies show the addition of an HPV DNA test to a Pap test improves, to almost 100 percent, the test's ability to detect women at virtually no risk for cervical disease or cancer.
