LaRee Pehrson, council president, read a letter from Ron The com- munication was in answer to the councils appeal for summer recreation, with particular emphasis on tennis, since there are two new courts now available for play. Borens reply said that until this summer there had been a tennis program operated out of the high school, but the response had been disappointing, so it was discontinued. He added that with the addition of the new courts at Copper Community park, the county is planning to offer the tennis program again next year. The council had also requested activities for younger children, and Boren stated that his office would look at the other special events to see if some of them could be included for Magna. Pehrson also reported that she was in the process of attempting to get a standing cancer control clinic established here. She pointed out that although the clinic is offered in Magna on an annual basis, it is offered in all the other areas once a week. We have a building available, she said, and we have plenty of people who would like to take advantage of having a good exam- ination smear and a pap test for a nominal cost. In addition since we live on the extreme western perimeter of the county, it would be far less expensive for the state to have a couple of their people come here, instead of our people having to go to Redwood or Kearns, not to mention the Inconvenience involved if they work or have little kids.
