Show V Gleaner Debutantes Honored At Annual Gold And Green Ball In Fifth Ward On Tuesday , Feb. 5 Gleaner Debutants of the Fifth ward were honored at the annual Gold and Green Ball held In the ward recreation hall on Tuesday evening, February 5.' The hall was beautifully decorated with blue paper streamer sky with glittering stars. A huge rainbow arched the stage which . was artistically decorated as a garden. During the evening each of the Gleaner debutantes: Judy IBosworth, iNorene Kimber Davis, Lois Jorgensen, Patty Jensen, Diane Grant. Ruth Marie Pierce, Doris Simonsen, Diane Jenson and Josephine Johnson was introduced in a written tribute by i her teachers: Mrs. Eart Bird and Mrs. Stephen Bunnell. Following the introduction, dainty Violet nosegays were presented to the debutantes by Larry Preece, eon of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell M. (Preece, and La Nay Shields, daughter pf Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Shields. As the girls descended the grass covered steps they were met at the foot of the stairs by their partners who Joined with them in the "Debutantes Waltz." Two Gleaner girls unable to attend were Miss Merle Morten-seand Miss Janice Christensen. Following the waltz a floor show was presented. Miss Sonia Hansen danced a solo ballet followed by a violin selection by Roseann Littlewood accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Horace Littlewood. The finale (was a group dance under the direction of (Mr. and Mrs. Clive Waters. The annual affair was under the direction of the M.I.A. of the ward. In addition to the three Babies Blessed And Children Confirmed In Perry Ward Sunday The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. George Petersen was blessed and given the name Rex Leon by his father in tegular fast Sunday services, February 3, In the Perry ward chapel. The meeting was presided over and conducted by Bishop Rulon Hirschi. Opening prayer was offered by Raymond (Hansen. song Sweet Is The Work was sung by the con gregation directed by Mrs. Louise Davis and accompanied by Miss Arlene Wight and Miss Dorothy Hirschi. First speaker for the evening was Grant Young (who spoke on The Scout Law, His talk was followed by Gary Larsen who treated the subject What An Eagle Badge (Means To Me. Miss Nancy Stallings played a violin solo, Adoration, acoom panied by Miss Carol Johnson. Various awards were then pre sented to scouts: Charles James, Gary Nelson, Niel Allen, Dennis Nelson and Kent and Wayne Wagstaff by Scout Master Wight They were also presented min iature pins for their mothers. Douglas Oyler presented merit badges to Allen Dunn and Grant Young, Isaac Young, father of Grant, came forward" and pinned the badge on his son. Guest speaker Was Dave field executive Ogden area council of Boy Scouts of America, who gave a most Inspirational talk to the young boys. He concluded his talk with a beautiful poem with musical accompaniment. Concluding remarks were by Scoutmaster Wight. Closing song was America, followed by the benediction by Ronald Petersen. The colors were then retired. Me-cha- 13th Birth Anniversary Observed On Wednesday Stanley Stoner, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stoner, en tertained a group of friends at a hamburger fry on Wednesday evening, February 6. The occasion was Stanleys 13th birthday anniversary. The young fellows enjoyed refreshments and games. Those attending were: Reed Goldsberry, Van Forrest Reese Nielsen, David Beckert, Eddie Brlghtenburg, Jay Arbon, Tuf-fClaybaugh and De Von Hamilton. The hall was decorated in a Valentine motif with sweet heart silhouettes and red and white hearts... On the refreshment table a large centerpiece of red and white carnations was artfully arranged on a round mirror dec orated with lace and white hearts. At either side of the mirror stood double candle hoi ders with white tapers. The centerpiece was given as a door prize later that evening President and Mrs. Glen M Bennion were holders of the lucky ticket. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Smith of Salt Lake City were guests. At Intermission the dancers were entertained by a solo num ber by Mrs. Mildred (Pett Ander son, accompanied by Dorothy Ann Lillywhite and two dance and song numbers by Miss San dra Austin.
