Show Many Applications Received For Hew Basketball Coach by John Roberts Many applications are in the hands of American Fork High School Principal Con Brady for the head coaching job at American Ameri-can Fork High Schoolforthe baseball bas-eball position. When contacted earlier in the week, Mr. Brady expected the announcement an-nouncement on the new head within with-in the week. The new head is necessary due to the resignation ofRoyPehrson who had guided the Cavemen for the past three seasons in both basketball and baseball. Mr. Brady, who accepted Pehrson's resignation, was very sorry to see Roy leave the school, and accepted with sincere regrets, as he felt Roy has done a tremendous tre-mendous job at the school. Con had known Roy previous to taking tak-ing over as Principal of the High School and had nothing but the very best for Roy's ability and enjoyed working with him. Mr. Brady is anxious to resolve re-solve the head coaching job for many reasons, but a couple are so that the new coach can contact con-tact other schools for the Cave men's pre-season schedule which is apparently subject to change early and other reasons. Another cause so the new coach can eval uate the r e t u r n i n g players and plan his tactics for the coming playing year. Former principal at AFHS Don Overly, and now overseer of the Alpine District is also aiding in the selection with Mr. Brady, and although the Principal does make recommendation it remains for the Superintendent andSchool Beard as to the final say in these matters. From the application very few head corches have submitted for the job as they are pretty well set already at their schools, but M; Brady indicated that many of the coaches who have applied have Cub Scouts to Present American Heritage Programs June 18, 25 Cub Scouts of Alpine District will present ivo outstanding Am. Heritage programs in historic Alpine Stake Tabernacle. American Ameri-can Fork Stake will present their program Thursday, June 18, while June 25 has been selected as the date of the AijineStake event. Both programs will be themed "Our American Heritage." Themes The-mes for each month of the coming com-ing year will be presented through colorful posters, winning essays will be given by Cub Scouts and special musical numbers will be sung by the Cub Scouts. A special presentation on the American Flag will also be given, including a brief history of the Candy Stripers Party On Wednesday, May 27th, the Candy Stripers from the American Amer-ican Fork Hospital held a party. It was in honor of the four graduating grad-uating Candy Stripers and the 20 new girls who had just entered the program. A fun barbeque was held at the home of Kathy Jones and everyone had a good time. had experience, and that several prospective coaches come from the graduating classes. It remains a very difficult decision, but knowing AFHS traditions in basketball the new coach, whoever he maybe, should enjoy working with Mr. Brady who will support him 100 percent in his first year. Mr. Brady, to my knowledge nevei missed a game of any kind, baseball, basketball, bas-ketball, football, track and field, and I'm sure many other evnts that I have missed. Who will be named remains in doubt but this much is for sure, whoever he is, he follows a very long line of very good coaches at AFHS.
