It is most gratifying to know that the children of I'rovo are being taught appreciation for the work of the civk clubs of their city. The boys and girls who study civic affairs now will know how to improve and make better the city they must handle In the near future. Civic pride, in the soul of the child includes loyalty to school and public institutions and is as important as ..loyalty' to parents and home. . The clTic clubs are cooperative agencies through which to work for a better city. The women's Munici pal council is one of these cooperative agencies. It is because of civic pride in the hearts of the women ot Provo that the - council exists. The preamble of the constitution of the council reads: 'For the purpose of uniting our efforts as a body, and for the purpose of cooperating with other civic agencies in working for the welfare of Provo, all its interests and all its people, we women citizens3 of Provo have formed ourselves into a club for municipal purposes. They pledge themselves to and its support this organization ideals, and to further any cause for a bigger, better Provo." Immediately after its organization the council began an aggressive cam paign of work which has never ceased. It is ever striving to help place Provo where she rightfully belongs in her v. 1$ ,r;- - council appreciates the big, brotherly cooperative attitude of the up-to-da- te Chamber pf Commerce, and is proud to render that organization all the aid possible. The program., of the Women's Iunicipal council for the year 1922-2supplies civic prooiems lor activity each month. For example: In April! and May a free course in millinery and dressmaking was given in the council room, two days each week, under the direction of the home ecoIn May the counnomic committee. cil sent' a delegate to the convention at the academy of visual instruction in Lexington, Ky.
