( . ..- Wayne Iverson presents the City Council with plans for the proposed park. Park Oty Planning Commissioner Comm-issioner Wayne Iverson Thursday night presented the city council with tentative tent-ative park plans for 8E107 acres of land north' of Deer Valley currently owned by the Bureau of Land Management. Manage-ment. Iverson is spearheading an effort to obtain the property from the BLM and utilize it for recreational purposes. Park City had a number one priority rating for the land acquisition. ae Dlans. submitted, b !bf GambT CltySollo Property ToKilctl The Park City Council, in a land settlement agreement involving a 16-by-16-foot piece of land owned by the city but used by Mileti's Restaurant, accepted a $1,000 offer from the establishment's establish-ment's owner, Otto Mileti, to purchase the property. Declaring the land that sits under Mileti's kitchen "surplus "sur-plus property", the council, at their Thursday night meeting at the Treasuer Mountain Inn, voted unanimously to accept City Properties Committee Chair man Eleanor Bennett's recommendation re-commendation to sell the land.'.' ; Council woman Bennett, along with city attorney Carl Nemelka, said the city's ability to prove clear title to the property was question- Park" included picnic shel-. ters, camp sites, restrooms and foot paths at the 7,440-foot level of the contoured con-toured property. Iverson has predicted that if could take up. to three ; years' to finalize any agreement agree-ment with the BLM due to . protests anticipated from Dr. William Orris and the State, of Utah. Both are expected to lay claim to the land. : A complete development and management plan for use of property must be complet ion) !5?.-?pifiW!jfe ( Burglar Takes Camera A burglary at the Silver Town Condominiums over the weekend netted thieves a camera, lenses, and fishing equipment, Park City Police Chief Garth Wilkinson reported re-ported Monday. The burglary victim, Marion S. Sexton of New York, said she .thought the thieves entered through unlocked un-locked sliding glass dw-s. Responding to a charge by Bruce Decker that "If he wants to attack problems which can only be solved on a national level, he should run for a national office,'' Summit Sum-mit County Commission candidate Bob Trepainer stated, "I'm amazed that someone who presently holds a public office would make such a- reckless and false charge. Unless Mr. Decker has had his head buried in sand for the past few months, he would know that we are running a campaign strictly on local issues such as:l) The proposed Summit County airport, 2) County zoning and Land Use, .3) Salaries of County Commissioners, Commis-sioners, 4) Mountainland Association of Government. All of these are local issues not national. They can and should be solved on a local level unless you believe the United States Congress should set zoning standards, determine whether we should have an airport, and the like."; Trepainer continued, "I have talked about specific -problems and my specific answers to those problems, and put them before the public. None of the other candidates have (except in extremely general statements state-ments which don't say anything.") ' . i "Having read last week's paper concerning Mr. Decker and his candidacy, I fail to ' ieejranyi"dAalM solfifions" ' toanyWenW'he'ifteiltioHs? Mr. Decker, in some ways, reiterates what I have been saying all along: That the people who get the services should pay the bill. But for Mr. Decker to support the recently defeated Bond Election for the Snyderville Basin Sewer Discrict (which in most people's opinion would throw much more than Park City's fair share of the . cost onto Park City), and then to say we should have a , 'get what you pay for' system seems to be talking out of two sides of his mouth at once." Assessing Mr. Decker's entry into the race as a write-in candidate Trepanier stated'Politically speaking, Mr. Decker's entry into the ' race will greatly help us. He will further divide the opposition vote, while not splintering our vote, thus making our chances - of ; winning greater. Realistic-:ally Realistic-:ally , I dont expect him to get over 200-300 write-in votes, and that's only if he puts on a strong campaign." Summing up the candidacy of Bruce Decker, Mr Trepanier Trepan-ier stated, "Despite his claims to be the one and only true representative of the Park City people, I ddn't believe he is. In my opinion if there ever was a candidate catering to special interest -. groups, Mr. Decker is that candidate. The Park City citizens and taxpayers;, will make their decision as to who , represents them on Novem-a ber 2." An attempt by Summit County Commission write-in candidate Bruce Decker to rent an advertising billboard on Highway 224 was quickly brought to a halt Monday when the National Advertising Advertis-ing Company refused to honor their agreement on the . grounds that the adVcopy might not be in the best interests of the company. Decker's ad which was to read, "Imagine the view without this billboard. Protect Your Lifestyle Vote for Quality' in Growth Write in Bruce . Decker, 2-year Commissioner", was refused after the candidate had signed a contract and given the company a check. Mr? Thomas, a representa tive of the National Advertising Advertis-ing Company,' told Decker, "As far as that copy goes, we can't do it. We're looking, at our own interest there." Concerning' the. contract that both Decker ' and Thomas signed, the company representative . said,"The contract has not been approved or accepted by the company yet." . ' "If we are running into a hassle over whether we're censoring or not, I guess we'll just have to take that chance," Thomas added. Decker disclosed to the Newspaper he. was' investigating investiga-ting the possibility of pursuing pur-suing legal action against the bill board company. ft 2 WEW CHAIRSI m &VWf iJ O r E n C O Us ITS ratlt FA CAll FOR RESERVATIONS: 649-8660 15 or 649-961 3 W 1064 Park Aw.
