AFLC was recognized for its efforts in four areas: May 7, 1982 operational y fatalities; military and civilian injuries; weapons safety; and the nuclear surety program. Much of the credit goes to AFLC's field activity supervisors and managers, according to AFLC safety officials. Programs such as the Supervisors Safety Surveillance Program, unique to the command, ensure that safety receives priority attention. Through the Supervisors Safety Surveillance Program, each new employee is briefed on job safety issues and hazards in the workplace. Supervisors and managers also ensure that safety programs are enforced through workplace inspections and safety reviews. For the third time in its history, AFLC had no military or civilian on-du- ty operational fatalities. Fewer disabling injuries added to the good safety record. Military and civilian injuries decreased 20 percent from the previous year. d the Air Force Verne These achievements, attained while performing a worldwide logistics mission with nearly 9,0,000 people involved in complex industrial operations, reflect strong command emphasis and supervisory involvement in safety program management."
