in his great wisdom the creator has seen tit fit to deprive tile the people of the state and the nation of a trusted and beloved friend and leader warren G harding twenty n ninth president of the united states of america and we are plunged into deepest sorrow now therefore I 1 charles R mabey governor of the state of utah do hereby request and urge appropriate evidences of respect t to 0 the memory of our departed friend d and chieftain and earnestly suggest est that the observance be general throughout the state and take the following fol loving form that flags be stationed at halt half mat mast from sunrise to sunset until the evening of the date of the interment 3 that friday august 1923 is hereby declared to he be a legal boll day in the state of 0 utah that at 12 noon transportation be suspended for a period of one min ute and that all other business be suspended throughout the day and that the time be given over to sorrowful meditation or to such appropriate hansen a young missionary ison son of mr and I 1 mrs irs david hansen had just returned from england and his friends had gathered to hear him tell of his wonderful experiences in albion the ancient his career and pointing out his characteristics of love honesty steadfastness and likableness music was furnished by the choir under the direction of inna anna calla I 1 way the congregation sang the ward chapel were appropriate and dignified and in kl keeping with the occasion 11 J bates was the speaker and he delivered a well thought out resume of oc the life of president harding in which he be stressed the honesty love and human kindness that characterized the life of this well loved man music was furnished by the choir and a double quartette the first number was america and a double quartette sang lead kindly light the choir sang nearer my god to thee golden johnston and his sister played a violin and piano so selection ronald bird sang A perfect day and the closing number was
