Prof. Itodmayne, head of tho school, has arranged this year for the students to visit tho Ironstone mines of Cleveland, the coal, hematite, hema-tite, and lead mines of Cumberland, and tho coal mines of Northumberland and Durham. Ho also proposes to establish es-tablish at tho new university buildings build-ings at Dourncvlllo a largo mining laboratory, on jto lines of tho leading American universities. A model coal mlno will bo sunk nnd equipped, so that students may becomo familiarized familiar-ized with practical conditions on tho spot. |
