Show Contest Open to Writers of Utah Themes jUtahns will have an opportunity opportuni-ty , to break i nto print" and buy War" Bonds with prize money according ac-cording to an announcement of a writers' contest being sponsored sponsor-ed by the Utahn Deoartment St Publicity and industrial Development Develop-ment in cooperation with the League of Utah Writers. Commissioner H. J. Plumhof in making the announcement stated that $100 will be awarded to writers of the 3 best stories having some specific theme about Utah. First prize will be $50; second prize $30; and third prize, $20. The articles which may be of any length, will be judged by a board of experienced editors and teachers soon after the closing clos-ing date June 30, 1943. "There is a great fund of excellent ex-cellent story material in Utah which should find a permanent place on the printed page," 3aid Mr. Plumhof. "In addition to the good Utah stories which we hope to obtain in this contest it is quite possible that we may uncover un-cover some truly fine writers," he said. The Deparntment of Publicity and Industrial Development, which is in contact with motion picture producers, will place suitable suit-able entries in the hands of Hollywood film companies it was said. |
