The republicans have carried the state by heavy majorities. Salt Lake County electing the entire county ticket, and nearly all the counties of the state are again in the republican column. Albert E. Miller, is without doubt elected state senator from the 11th district. All the counties of his district gives him a plurality except Washington, where David. H. Morris had something like 50 or 75 votes to the good. The complete returns of Washington county are not yet in. We have been unable to secure the complete returns of the election in Washington county, but out of 20 precincts we lack advices from only three Pinto, Enterpiise and Hurricane. The two former may be expected, judging by their vote two years ago, to give a small plurality to the democratic candidates;. Hurricane is a new district but will probIt is not likely ably be republican. that their vote will change the results shown by the vote so far compiled. As it now stands the republicans elect one candidate, Amos Workman for county surveyor, though there is a possibility of Isaac G. Macfarlane overcoming the 16 votes plurality when the complete returns are received. The democrats have doubtless elected the remainder of their ticket. Still, Perkins leads Wortben for sheriff by only 29 votes, and there is a remote possibility of Wortben being elected. - s Correspondence viW-- 0 0 J w. Mesquite, Nev. . Mesquite, Nev. Nov. 4, 1906. In no part of oar great and prosperous country can there be a more fervent response to tbe appeal of our President than Utah. In every way the people of this state have been blessed during the past year; - The products of the soil have never been more abundant. Labor and its rewards, independence and contentment have been abundantly vouchsafed to tbe toilers. Mines and mills and factories and flocks and herd have poured wealth into publio and private coffers. While disaster has visited other portions of tbe globe, and eveu some of our sister states have not been spared, Utah has been to a marked degree free from adverse visitation. And in tbe midst of tbis material prosperity there has been felt throughout our communities a sense of d responsibility to God for the proper use of bis manifold blessings. Materially, morally, in telleotually and spiritually tbe people of our beloved common wealth have advauced to a bigber plane, aud Henry Mitchell and Anna Hyatt were made man and wife today in the clerks office. While it is very convenient to the public to cut off the corner, it hardly seems a good method to inspire respect for sacred grounds to make a thoroughfare of them, besides the injury which is bound to be done to tbe building and the trees and lawns surrounding it, by thoughtless or people who may loiter about the place at will. mal-ioio- The Y.
