The squadron, previously assign ed to Military Air Transport Service, operates the aircraft control tower and the precision approach radar facility at Hill and maintains navigational aids for incoming1 and departing aircraft at the base. Strength of the squadron is 48 officers and airmen and 17 civilians. Capt. Magnan said that the headquarters of the new command is Scott AFB, 111. Maj. Gem Harold W. Grant has been named commander of the Air Force Communications Service. The new command takes over responsibilities of AACS which has been operating Air Force communications for 22 years.
