Show 74 FIRES IN WASATCH FOREST DURING YEAR 1931 the present fire season has been one of the most severe of record and the hazardous conditions have equaled the noted bad seasons of 1910 and 1919 when so many tires fires occurred and so much timber was destroyed according to A 0 nord supervisor of the wasatch national forest in the wasatch forest to date there has been 74 fires suppressed by forest service crews which exceeds all former se seasonal records but theanea the area burned has been hold held coonly acres this Is considerable under the average losses for all allY former ormer bad years although losses throughout the west generally have been heavy the forest service also cooperated with other agencies in the suppression of 6 large fires occurring in the private timber north of the wasatch wa satch forest in summit county utah and uintah county wyo where approximately acres of young timber was destroyed all but 2 of the tires fires occurring to in the wasatch forest were directly attributed to human carelessness chief among which were camp fires and lighted cigarettes ar ettes |
