Show PORK PRICES TO BE LOWER Ceiling prices on certain wholesale whole-sale pork cuts have been reduced by one-half to one cent a pound throughout the country. The reduction, effective ' Jan. uary 22. will be passed on to the consumer. Ceiling prices for whoie sale cuts of smoked loins and rough shoulders, neck-bone in, have been reduced approximately j one dollar a hundred, and fresh or frozen shoulders (neck bone in) are reduced approximately fifty ' cents a hundredweight. The ceil-ing ceil-ing on imported canned hams has been reduced $7. a hundredweight. hundred-weight. Today's action results from a diversion of unusually large number num-ber of green loins into smoke houses because of the higher price formerly established for this product, pro-duct, and from a desire of indust-ry indust-ry to encourage the production of rough shoulders, neck bone cuts, to a normal relationship with rough shoulder, neck-bone in. The amendment further authorizes auth-orizes the production of country back bone by farmers who do their own slaughtering. Previously Previous-ly the regulation only gave commercial com-mercial specifications for cutting cut-ting back bone. It was found that in rural areas farmers who slaugh. ter their own hogs and sell the cuts did not have the facilities for cutting back bone according to commercial specifications. Only consumers in rural areas are ex pected to purchase this item. |
