Show WESTERX. Sit vail a Rallroatl Collision. Elko, 13. A collision on the Central Pacific railroad, at 6.35 last night, thirteen miles east of here, between the east bound passenger train which left San Erancisco ihe morning of the 11th and a west bound freight train, occurred on a sharp curve where the road rum through a Canvon of the Humboldt river, the grade being about twenty feet above tha water. The pasBenger train was proceeding slowly round tho curve when the engineer saw tho freight train coming not 4O0 feet distant. The engineer ol the passenger train reversed his engine, put on tbe air brakes, and jumped down into the river followed by the fireman to save themselves. The air brake nearly slopped tho passenger train beforo the engines struck, thus peventing the cars telescoping. Meanwhile Mean-while the engineer of tho freight train whistled down brakes, and reversed his engine, but too lato. In the collision the engines leaped into tho air. Tho following is a list of tho wounded. None were killed: O. .lack, fireman of the freight train, badly bruised, side and back injured it is thought fatally; John Bailey, freight brakeuian, head cut and back injured; J Porter, passenger brake-man, brake-man, face and head cut. Some of the passengers were slightly bruised but none seriously. California, San Francisco, 13.
