Cho- cial? sen for the position, Joan Esplin has energetically set high goals for Delta Psi Omega and is strongly determined to expand the club into a body of worth. Things have really been happening at Dixie the past few weeks! The Freshman Orientation Swing started things going; and then we have the Dixie-CSBattle of the Axe tomorrow night. Lots of fun activities have boe going on in between. The big party under the D helped things to get off to a good start. Singing the mhool song and listening to our leaders speak to us about the Dixie Spirit really got us in the mood. And we cant forget the oafs. I think that everyone got at least one hotdog and part of elscs too. It was so dark that no one had any truoble socializing aand being friendly. The big hamburger feed out to the park wasn't half bad either. One thing about the student leaders, they know what kind of food to serve. The dancing was fun, some-bnd- Working with President Joan f i A A NATIONAL HONOR FRATERNITY has been organized on campus to unite students with similar interests in the fine arts and to allow for development in this field. Special sessions are held periodically throughout the year for book v reviews, music appreciation, and stimulating discussions of certain Broadway and amateur productions. JOAN ESPLIN President, Joan proudly announced at the introductory meeting of Deltat Psi Omega, October 6, that the select group has in store for the coming vear zillions of parties and loads too. Following the pattern of last years activities, the first party and meeting of Delta Psi Omega was an evening of laughs and reminiscences of past activities. Sipping the deli- Students at Dixie Junior College are eagerly encouraged to take advantage of the benefits afforded by the club. Membership is won on a basis with necessary points gained by assisting or supervising committees which function for the development of the fine arts; by participating in any of the colleges productions or working as student director. The etiquette session that was presented in the Leadership Conference and then again in todays assembly was really timely. I especially loved the stag line and those lovely gals who insisted on leading during the dancing. Konnv Campbells sport outfit was really smart: just the type of thing that is popular this year. Marilyn Anderson and Ann Barnum have been elected President and Vice President of the newly organized College Home Ec. Club, a chapter of the national organization. This is the first time this club has ever been on the Dixie campus, we think it is going to be a great success. Cheerleader tryouts were held last Wednesday and they were really interesting. Some of the most original costumes were these worn by the Kathy Neilson and Nancy Jackson group, remember the blue and white stripe? I really liked those. Sixteen students tried out for the offices of cheerleader and all sixteen were good. Five cheerleaders were chosen and we want to congratulate them. So. Dixie, Judy, Phyllis, Paul and Larry, we know youll be great. Dixie College Rebelettes were also selected twenty-fou- r coeds from the freshman and sophomore classes. The girls were selected CON-GATS- Es- plin is Joan McConkie, vice president; Lolly Thomas, secretary; Kay Bruhn and Peggy Hawkins, reporters; and Marion J. Bentley, advisor. Edwin Riggs of Kanab has been chosen to play the star role of Tony Wendice in the first college play of the season, Dial M for Murder, reports Marion J. Bentley, director of the drama department. Others in the case are Merrillee Holt, St. George, as Wendices wife Margo; Clay Conway, Blanding, as Max Halliday, an American TV writer; and Atkin Pace, St. George, as Inspector Hubbard. Dan Morris, St. George, will be seen as Captain Lesgate. Also appearing are Cecil Pendleton and Donald Rowley. Dial M for Murder, a thrilling mystery drama, which played successfully on both the London and American stage and which was made into a popular movie starring Ray Milland and Grace Kelly, will be presented by the college group on November 3, 4 and 5. youk. carrying tryOTHER.
