three categories: Maintenance and Operation Capital Outlay and State law allows a Board to lev Irotn to 10 mills in a Voted Leeway Election Dr Topham explained that the local Board is recommending 2 mills This will amount to approximately $800000 It is important to understand that this amount is strictly a transfer of funds There will be no additional taxes In fact with the assessed value at $2000000000 there will be a 19 percent tax reduction The following example ol tax sav ings is based on a home valued at $60000 198k 89 22 52 Savings-$The public information meetings will be followed by a vote If Noted Leewav passes a Public Hearing must be held Once in place decisions are made tirely by the Millard County Board ot Education If necessary the Board can reduce the mill rate An Voted Leeway is the only fund which gives school boards descretion in Transportation The M&O budget is regulated by the state and cannot be altered m any way on the local level The state standards require the Weighted Pupil Unit to be $1204 If the local district has more than this amount per pupil coming in the difference must be sent to the state In the event the district cannot meet this amount the state makes up the difference At this time Millard County is paying the state In either case the $1204 remains constant Revenue for Capital Outlay is the responsibility of the local district but funds which go strictTransportation students receives ly to transporting some state money At this time both of these areas have sufficient monies however strict guidelines dictate how the monies can be used The projected will provide increase for creased funds The Millard County expenditures The Millard School District has determined its Voted Leeway priorities transfer will Funds from
