Show CHANCE OF ENDING COLDFIELO STRIKE i i Federation Members Will Go Back to Work if Operators AVill Compromise. Special to Tho Tribune. GOLDFIETD, Feb. 21. A mrelini; of the bi'Rcst operators iu the camp, including Tom Lockhart, who with A. D. Parker of Denver owns the famous Florence properly, has been held secretly secret-ly in this city and a resolution passed si sit i up tho bonrd of the Mine Owners' association to take a middle ground and end the strike. Some of those who attended at-tended the meeting are members of the aasocialion and others aro not. The resolution asks tho association to grant $4.50 per day for miners, instead of The Minors' union demands $") per day, but is willing to call off Iho strike and order t he men back to work on -Monday morning provided the association asso-ciation will grant fifty cents increase. A. prominent member of tho operators who did not attend the meeting said tonight thai, tho request, will bo turned down cold. He said thnl(thc association has spent tens of thousands of dollars! to whip the federation, hero, oven bringing in meu and troops, and now Hint-the fight was praclicaly won there would be no compromise. However, inasmuch in-asmuch as the operators and lessees who attended the meeting and arc m conference with Mahoney of the federation feder-ation nunibcrod about fifteen, it is not unlikely that something tangible will result. There are said to bo seven hundred hun-dred men employed in tho district;, or aboub half enough at this time. |
