"The Day After" the Doxol Fire, On July 31, 1981. an explosion at a propane storage facility on the north end of Moab killed four people and threatened to destroy a large residential section of the town. The quick actions of Moab resident Doug Farnsworth prevented the tragedy from becoming even @@eater. The next day. these photographs revealed the extent of the damage. Note the melted running lights on the travel trailer. (For a more deatiled recollection of the disaster, see page three) A NEW STANDARD FOR ‘DOG OF THE MONTH’ Moab native ROBIN GROFF was pleased to learn that his kickball-playing bison had been _ selected to be honored as this issue's DOGS OF THE MONTH... : : ..Robin named the three males, Ty. Stumpy and...the baby boy—Custer (He was born on June 25, the Day George got his). Robin claims that he bought himself some buffalo when, for the 32nd year ina row, he failed to win a permit to hunt a buffalo in the south Utah desert. However, he has grown so attached to his ‘herd’ that some people claim to see a physical resemblance... The fact is. Robin Groff has fallen in love with his bison. |
