Show ANONYMOUS LETTERS A DISGRACE it has recently come rather generally to the public attention that several anonymous letters have boon mailed irom from fillmore much to tho the disgrace dla graco of 0 the community tile the object ot of these letters apparently center around the of the local high school several have been received as we un deratany dera tand upon good authority by mr lanthus wright principal elect of 0 the fillmore high school the letters a as we understand are ara libelous belous ll nod and present a reflection ot of otten public spirit on the part ot of the un tin named author their apparent intent being to discourage mr wright in coming to fillmore as principal of 0 the local high school they also alao make unwarranted reference to other school officials in an intended injurious manner this athla sort bort of thing cannot be condoned by aalf respecting citi citizens zeng it la Is unfair to mr wright and the other school affiliated persons persona named in the letters it la Is unfair to the community of fillmore as one of 0 the letters pointedly represented that it stated the opinion of a large group of 0 local people in its content in the light ot of this unfair reflection against the community the progress wishes to attempt to state editorially our conception of the truth in this regard in the first place we feel that the administrative officers of 0 the millaid millard county school district enjoy the con clidence and respect of the taxpayers tax payers and school patrons of the district that they are conscientious in fit their effort to properly administer the affairs of the district this opinion holds true as a to each member ot of the board the superintendent and the clerk this thia administrative body has haa la in the exercise ot of their best judgment 10 I 1 employed the ag coming year the process of 0 which transferred mr pilton to hinckley and brought mr wright here as a the respective principals the editor of 0 the progress progreso Is willing to attempt to state emphatically what he thinks khinki the tha respectable class of citizens feel regarding the action of these public officials and the tha attitude of these same earne citizens regarding the content of the anonymous letters it Is simply this we have entrusted the administration of our schools to lo an elected board wo we hold bold them responsible completely and until proven otherwise conclusively we will abide their judgment wo we do no twant this district ruled coerced or dictated to by any individual group political body church or we will back tip the school board in the ex ei of such buch judgment aa long ai aa they administer the affairs ot of tha schools in a fair air and impartial roan man ner we are satisfied with their administration generally in the past we will support them in the future we realize they have many problems that are difficult the editor perk personally so nally does not agree with all they have done but in the whole their efforts have buys been beneficial to their constituents therefore it Is our duty to support them As to mr wright the progress regrets that such a reception as a the aforementioned anonymous letters should have come from our community we assure him that such Is nat not the true spirit ot of our people he has been selected by our board as aa principal of our school and he be has hag corns come well recommended we wish to welcome him here and hope he will be successful beyond yon ovon his own hopes the better citizens ot of fillmore will stand behind him in giving him a fair chance to succeed accept our apology tor for a citizen who is either wholly ignorant ot of the precept of common fairness and decency or has a cha character ratter r rotten otten with revenge and deceit |
