Show J Let the festivities begin! With an early Thanksgiving this year, there's room in the calendar for heralding the Christmas season with trumpets, horns', trombones and the tuba! The historic Casino Star Theatre in Gunnison proudly announces its 20062007 live concert series, beginning on Thursday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m., with the Brass Tacks Quintet, an outstanding quintet of Utah musicians playing Christmas, jazz, and popular tunes. Led by professional trumpeter Ian Murdock, who often performs with the Utah Symphony and Ballet West Orchestras as an extra or substitute, Brass Tacks has performed at the Park City Jazz Festival, Murray Arts in the Park, Brown Bag Concert Series, the Utah Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail by MARK HENLINE Performing Arts Tour, and the Utah Arts Festival. According to Ian, "Each of us holds a degree from the music department of a major university. Our enthusiasm for playing exceptional music is clear in each note. As leader, I will see to it that our performance is ideal, from the smallest details to the overall ambience." Further programs include Chris Proctor, fingerstyle guitarist, on February 22, 2007; a variety spectacular of local and near-local talent on March 8; and a festival of Hitchcock thrillers later in the spring. Tickets for Brass Tacks are available at the theatre box office, at Rasmussen's Ace Hardware, and from Lori Nay (435-528-7136) or Diana Spencer (435-9792798). MARATHONERS & RUNNERS!! , :•' ;.
