Show THE Wednesday, March 27, 1974 n n OCJODCIO uEJiqCJA DONT LUMP IT WUnYunYuBnl u U OHqiI A MAJORITY OF ONE Like a lot of other Americans, I am disgruntled. In fact, I feel like Im being had! And somewhat like Saul Bellows Leventhal, I know Im being victimized, but I dont know why. I am being told that the energy crisis is real, that there is no conspiracy on the part of the big oil companies to drive the prices of fuel up, and that there are no capped oil wells which could be activated, but arent. And while the spokesmen sound convincing and sincere, I keep noting that the price on the gas pump keeps right on climbing. And I Spring is bustin out all over, in more ways than one. It is not only a time of regeneration, but also of revaluation.. Revaluation, that is, of what to do about the hydra that rears its ugly head every year when the snow melts away abandoned junk. It would seem that water, sewage, roads, and plain old mud are problems enough for the city, without continually throwing in a little more junk every year. It never was and never wfll be the problem of thedty government or highway it belongs to each and every one of us and department nows the time to do something about it. Pew streets and lots in Park City go unscathed. The inventory runs from ordinary garbage to late model used cars. Park City is beginning to look like the arena for a demolition derby. hear things. A trucker who hauls crude oil from eastern Utah to the refineries at Salt Lake mentions that he was told to stop hauling three loads of oil a day. He is to bring only one tanker load even though there is more than enough crude to rill his tanker three times per day. Makes me begin to wonder. Isnt it time that we all got together and acted like a town proud of our appearance? Lets give Park City the old Saturday night bath ! Why not give Spring a chance to bust out all over? Whos cashing in on the soaring prices? Perhaps people like Offshore Harry, who fills his tankers full of domestic oil, steams to Libya or another near Eastern port, transfers the load to another tanker, and brings the same oil back to sell as imported oil and triples his profit. Like I say, I feel like Im being had. YOUNG AND GROWING The Coalition has now printed six issues. It is a very young newspaper and has a tremendous amount of growing to do. The staff of the Coalition learns more and more with each issue printed and we will continue to get more pure news to our readers. Equally important is the lightness which we will maintain in our newspaper. Without the humor and personality which we have tried to establish, the Coalition would be just another newspaper. Our main objective is twofold: present to our readers all news which we can gather each week and provide enjoyable and interesting articles at the same time. And then there are those capped wells. When anybody who has lived in the Southwest for any length of time knows of hundreds of them that dot the landscape, am I to swallow the line that they arent there? non-existe- nt The whole thing has become ridiculously 521-60- side-effe- ct solution? And is it an effective solution to the energy crisis to allow industrial consumers to return to using baser fuds and as the Nixon relaxing the restrictions on their emissions administration recently proposed? Would it not be more democratic to allow individual car owners to remove all the emission control devices from their engines and force the industries to continue to abide by the current regulations on emissions control? 40 zJrlrlriltlihlrlrlrl'cdISiriritJtirlcrstii SUBSCRIPTION FORM THE B PARK CITY (BULLETIN) Saturday, March 2.1, the annual March of Dimes Walkathon was held in Salt Iake City. Our push for legislation to dean up the air. Automobile manufacturers are forced to equip their products with emission control systems. But the emission control systems have a of making the engine use twice as much fuel. Fuel that now costs twice as much. What have we gained? Clean air?
