(UPI) — Frank Hughes scored his sixth goal in five games since rejoining Phoenix as the RoadTunners defeated the Sali Lake Golden Eagles, 41, Friday night, Ted McCaskill, Andy Hinse and Jerry Odrowski completed the Phoenix scoring. McCaskill and Hinse scored on power plays to boost the Runners’ league ieading total to 20. Odrowski’s goal came while he was killing a penalty. Salt Lake tied the score in the first period when Dave Amadio slipped a pass to Paul Terbenche, whotookit over the blue line. Caught from behind, Terbenche shovled the puck to Dennis Kassian, who lured Phoenix goalie Marv Edwards out of the net and fired it in. Phoenix took the lead again in the second period when Hughes took a pass from Hinse and slid it past goalie Wayne Rutledge. Hughes, a 2l-year-old rightwinger, scored 30 goals for the Roadrunners last season and was drafted by the California Golden Seals of the National Hockey League. He played for California and for Baltimore in the American League before returning to the Roadrunners two weeks ago. The League’s scoring leader, Larry Lund, returned after a five-gamelayoff due to the flu and picked up two assists, WayneRutledge made37 saves for Salt Lake and Marv Edwards 24 for Phoenix.
