S;3 Steel on the Pacific f Mob Psychology 1 " Earth and the Senate Ford's Contribution i- Q 10 news was the announcement by O the United States Steel Corpora-- ' tlon that It had purchased the Coluni-bla Steel Corporation, biggest org.inl mutton of its kind on the I'aclflo Coast. i Is important news for the steel Industry.: and particularly Important I fo. California,- - and all the Pacific Coast States, when the blppest steel I concern in the world hitherto ' con-lined to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Gary and 3 Birmmgfapm, Alabama, reaches into it the Great West, moving from the At-- I lantio to the Paciflo. s The purchase ot the Columbia Com i pany, with Us annual capacity o i 000 gross tons of f.teel Ingots, shows the wisdom of modern Industry. Under antiquated methods Big Steel would have moved to tho Pa-- cifio to iight Columbia Steel aud "try " to put it out of buBlness." Instead j the power and intillgence of the Big Steel Company, directed by Chairmuu f Myron C. ' . ; You will be glad to hear that the Federal Reserve Board says the Wall f Street earthquake Is over, public fears calmed. It may be permissible to remark therefore while the earthquake Is still ) fresh in many minds, that gambling Is i dangerous. - i And It Isn't necessary. There are if. ather better ways of making a living f In the United States. In addition to if which gambling Is no way to maka1 a living. ;'! j l Washington says stock market dif-'- . r Acuities are due to "mob psychology.'' They are due to the fact that 20.000, ! i 000 people started gambling all at " ' once and the same 20,000,000 tried to sell stocks all at once. ' ': The condition In Wall Street Is like j that following the cry of "fire" in a tneater. Soon a good many millions ' will wish they had remained quietly j t? in their seats, refusing to be stam- - .. peded. . i x Those that foolishly talk about a ; t national paLic, will please remember f that the Income of , this Nation is . one hundred billion dollars a year.
