Show A JOYOUS TIME alio homecoming celebration in honor of the anniversary of tho settlement of fet george is over and will be remembered by man hundreds aa one of the happiest events in their lues there cicro about one thousand guests present and st george homes were open to them all accommodated and we have no word other thin praise aiom the visitors it was 1 glad i time indeed veterans met old acquaintances whom they had not seen for thirty or forty scars ind bubbled over with py as they acl itce circumstances connected with the early history and battlement of daie the beautiful medal given the pioneers as i momento of alie occasion was proudly worn and is much valued the medal for pioneers of 61 is about the size of a dollar and bears a picture of alio st george temple on cither the i being blue with appropriate wording in gold upon it the medal for later pioneers had the same class of ribbon but the madil of being pendant was at the top of the had the temple on one side alie w hole three days at the celebration were by such orderly proceedings as to reflect great credit upon the people of dixie all harmony aind good feeling prevailed consequently everybody felt happ at the fruit festival although about sixteen hundred participated all really enjoyed the good order as much as the fruit and a fair estimate of the number of visitors can be obtained from thia festival because nil st george people under alie age of sixteen were occluded fco that visitors might have bettar accommodation the lunch arrangement was excellent good lunches were served in the tabernacle and the wire cheap and satisfactory alie decorations in the ft ere indeed splendid the n colors were everywhere and decided good table had been employed in arranging them alie stand was a beautiful picture w ith of various kinds of delicious fruit many fine specimen of cactus ooze etc it is doubtful if such a showing could be made anywhere else the singing by the choir also came in for favorable comment st george may well feel proud of this organization it H improving impi oving right along nid is a credit to thu stake the dixie band nl o placed excellently but w is not enough of it A lack of sufficient music for alie wj notice ible the committees having the ele bration in should liner lc forgotten for untiring efforts to make the celebration alio big suc cc s it was they with alie people of dixie behind them made many hearts happy made possible n good timo and hive caused the good word of didies Dix ies hospitality its glorious climate its unexcelled fruits it orderly young men and charming young women to be spread broadcast by the on their return to their homes all of which is something to be proud of the dixie homecoming visitors were loud in praise of alie beautiful stake academy it was an object of exceeding interest to them and aliey more than any others who might visit this city know the great effort and sacrifice made by the people for its erection the siope was expressed by many of them that the splendid structure would be well by the people of dixie and it is most sincerely to be wished that this hope may bo realized it will open icy tuition next monday under a principal who is so highly endorsed and well recommended that we can take it for granted that he is a very competent instructor he is young and full of push and just the man needed jact behind him and work for the academy |
