Show TWO FUNERALS AT SMITHFIELD Sraithfleld, April 7. Funeral servl-ces servl-ces were-hold yesterday oyer tho body bo-dy of Edwin Ruthvcn Miles Sr., ond of tho most widely known and highly high-ly respected men of our community. His death was not unexpected ns ho had been bedfast for two months and all that loving hands or medical aid could 'do, could not restoro him to health, death camo as a welcome ro-IIef. ro-IIef. Ho not only lived a long life but a very .useful and eventful' one. He was born In Parkman, Geanga county, Ohio, May 25, 1838. In company com-pany with his parents ho left Ohio in 1839 and settled In Illinois until 184G. Tho family spent tho winter of 1846 in winter quarters. In May 1848 they resumed their pourney and arrived in Salt Lako City In Septem ber of the samo year. After threo years ho moved to Big Cottonwood until tho spring of 1800 when ho camo to Smithfleld, and has over slnco worked to upbuild and better our settlement. Tho deceased married mar-ried Juno Wakefield, Jane lourit-Ben lourit-Ben and Janet Hendrlckson, each of which has a large family. He has fulfilled two missions abroad and held many positions hero at home. He will always bo remembered for tho active part taken In pioneer hardships and Indian troubles Incident to tho upbuilding of a new country. Two wives, twenty children, sixty-two sixty-two grandchildren, and ono great grand child survive. Four children preceded him. James Roskollcy, William Wil-liam Noble, John SwertBon, Sylvester Low, George Doano, Samuel Nelson. Bishop Winn, C. J. Plowman of this place and D. F. Collett of Salt Lako City, James Mack of Ogden and Gcorgo Gco-rgo Barbor of Logan all said so many good things and said them so well that all felt satisfied and wero filled with a desire to strlvo hard to emulate emu-late his most worthy life and labors. Tho choir rendered appropriate songs. Tho floral pieces wero very beautiful.
